1. The short version
QuillTide is designed around local creative work. Manuscripts, notes, reading records, planning material, and supported project files are stored on your computer unless you deliberately use a connected feature or send information to QuillTide.
QuillTide does not use artificial intelligence, submit your creative work to AI services, sell manuscript content, or use your work to train generative models.
2. Information QuillTide may receive
When you visit the website, hosting and security providers may process ordinary technical information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, approximate time, and security signals needed to deliver and protect the site.
When you create a QuillTide account or use Ripple, Messages, Sync, Forms, shared reading, or another connected feature, QuillTide may process the account identifier, profile information, posts, comments, reports, connections, encrypted-message delivery metadata, uploaded media, device sessions, and sync records required to provide and protect that feature. Message content is end-to-end encrypted where the product identifies it as such.
Private iCloud Backup is stored in the signed-in Apple ID’s private CloudKit database. QuillTide’s service cannot browse that private database. Imported reading files are not included in the QuillTide state backup.
When purchasing and licensing become available, QuillTide and its checkout or licensing providers may process the transaction, account, device, and licence information needed to complete the purchase, issue your licence, prevent abuse, and provide support. Full payment-card details are handled by the payment provider rather than stored by QuillTide.
If you email QuillTide, request support, submit a moderation report, or choose a community or sharing feature, QuillTide receives the information you decide to provide through that action.
3. How information is used
Information is used only to provide and secure the website and software, fulfil purchases, manage lifetime licences, deliver requested connected features, respond to support, distribute updates, and meet legal obligations.
QuillTide does not use personal information for behavioural advertising and does not sell personal information.
Google sign-in
If you choose Continue with Google, QuillTide receives your Google account identifier, email address and email verification status, and basic profile information such as your name and profile picture through Google's authentication service. These details are used to sign you in, link your identity to your QuillTide account, and protect your account. Your name may prefill the Ripple profile setup form; you choose the display name and username that other people see. Your sign-in email is not shown on your public Ripple profile.
Google sign-in requests basic identity and email information. It does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, calendar, or contacts. QuillTide does not sell Google account information or use it for advertising or AI training.
Google processes the sign-in through its authentication service. QuillTide stores the account identifiers and account information needed to provide your connected account using its hosting and storage providers. Your browser can keep an authenticated session so that you remain signed in. Sign-in data is transmitted over HTTPS, and QuillTide verifies authentication tokens before granting access to connected account features.
Account information is retained while needed to provide your account and for the limited support, security and legal purposes described in this policy. You can request access, correction or deletion by emailing hello@quilltides.com, and use account deletion where offered in the app. You can also remove QuillTide's connection in your Google Account settings. Removing that connection does not itself delete your QuillTide account or content. See the retention and privacy-request sections below for your choices.
4. Local projects and connected features
Core creative work is designed to remain local. Online actions—such as account sign-in, QuillTide Sync, Ripple, Messages, Forms, update checks, licence activity, optional lookups, purchase links, or sharing tools—are separate and visible. Only information reasonably required for the chosen action should be transmitted.
The iOS app provides account deletion from Account, Data & Support and the connected profile. Deletion revokes sessions and linked devices and removes the account, profile, uploaded media, and associated online records subject to narrow security, legal, and conversation-integrity exceptions. Local books and manuscripts remain on the device unless you delete them separately.
Do not send private manuscripts, passwords, payment details, or licence keys through ordinary email or Discord unless QuillTide support specifically requests appropriate information through a suitable channel.
5. Providers and international processing
QuillTide may rely on service providers for website hosting, security, checkout, licensing, email, and other operations. They may process limited information on QuillTide’s behalf under their own infrastructure and safeguards. External destinations such as Discord and Ko-fi apply their own privacy terms.
6. Retention and security
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including purchase records, licence administration, support, security, and legal requirements. QuillTide uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
7. Your choices and rights
You can avoid optional online features and continue using supported local workflows. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain personal information. Legal exceptions may apply.

8. Children and changes
QuillTide is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to the processing described here. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact QuillTide.
This policy may be updated when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
